Hicks earns 7th Grand Champion honors at 2025 RI TDC

Windsor Locks, Conn. – XPO’s Joe Hicks took his seventh RITDC Grand Championship Honors on June 7 as RITA, TAM and MTAC combined for the 2025 Tri-State Truck Driving Championships. Hicks will defend his 2024 ATA National TDC 4-Axle Semi-Trailer Championship at the American Trucking Associations’ 2025 National TDC.

Just under 100 drivers from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut braved the torrential rain to advance to Minneapolis for the national event, taking place from August 20 to 23.

Rhode Island Rookie of the Year honors went to FedEx’s Mark Silvestri, who, as a first-time competitor in the event, had the highest combined score on the written test, pre-trip inspection and road course.

Thank you to all the volunteers who kept the event running smoothly. And a special shout-out to the course judges who stood in the rain for hours to carry out their essential role. We appreciate you!

Congratulations and best of luck to all of Rhode Island’s Champions at the National TDC in August!
