XPO’s Hicks recognized for 2024 National TDC victory

RITA was honored to be present on October 17 when XPO Logistics awarded a custom-lettered, dedicated tractor to Joe Hicks of Johnston, Rhode Island, in recognition of his winning the ATA’s National Truck Driving Championships 4-Axle competition. Hicks is the first Rhode Island driver to achieve this honor.

In attendance were Barbara Hicks, Joe’s devoted wife and secret training weapon; Congressman Gabe Amo; XPO Logistics’ and RITA Incoming Board Chair Al D’Angelo; XPO leadership; Representative Robert Quattrocchi; RITA Chair Debora Babin-Katz; RITA Secretary Frank Kernan; RITA President Chris Maxwell; and RITA Foundation Chairman Steve Soares.

At the event, Congressman Gabe Amo presented a citation to Joe Hicks, recognizing his achievement at the “Super Bowl of Safety.”

In remarks during the ceremony, XPO Logistics Cranston Service Center Manager Al D’Angelo noted that Hicks is a big proponent of the state and national TDC, encouraging fellow XPO drivers to participate and helping them sharpen their skills for the competition.

“Joe Hicks is a tremendous source of pride for RITA and Rhode Island and a great representative of the trucking industry and its culture of safety,” commented Chris Maxwell.

Congratulations to Joe! The legend lives on!
